It's taken me over a week to be in the right frame of mind to sit down and share about our Easter. I was so moved by our church service, that it took me a while to process it all. Well, I guess I was mostly moved by the song our pastor's daughter sang. I had never heard it before, but now it will always be a favorite. I'll post pictures of our day later, but for now I need to get this out.
I've always been thankful & grateful for the cross & Jesus' sacrifice. For the grace that allows me to be forgiven. But I've never been more thankful for it than I am now that I'm a mother.
One of my biggest fears used to be that I would have difficulty getting pregnant and having children. Praise Jesus, that is not something Chris and I have had to face. Now that my beautiful girls are here, I try really hard not to worry needlessly about things such as their health and safety. One thing I do pray really really hard for is their salvation.
Every night I pray over my girls...that they would come to know Christ as their Savior at a young age and love Him their entire lives with all of their hearts. That they would always seek His will first so that they are continually becoming the women, wives and mothers that He intends and needs for them to be.
I see it happening already. I'm watching as Alyssa learns more & more about the God of the universe who created her and loves her...
...and I'm watching her fall in love with Him.
It's beautiful.
And I'm praying that, while I won't be perfect, she'll see His love for her through my love for her. I won't screw this up. He won't let me...and I'm trusting in that.
So now the Cross means so much more to me than my own salvation...it means Alyssa's and Blakely's salvation. Those will be - BY FAR - the happiest days of my life. The day that they know and accept, without a shadow of a doubt, that the Son of God died for them. And would have done it just for them.
We rode into town the other day
Just me and my Daddy
He said I'd finally reached that age
And I could ride next to him on a horse
That of course was not quite as wide
We heard a crowd of people shouting
And so we stopped to find out why
And there was that man
That my dad said he loved
But today there was fear in his eyes
So I said "Daddy, why are they screaming?
Why are the faces of some of them beaming?
Why is He dressed in that bright purple robe?
I'll bet that crown hurts Him more than He shows
Daddy, please can't you do something?
He looks as though He's gonna cry
you said he was stronger than all of those guys
Daddy, please tell me why
Why does everyone want him to die?"
Later that day the sky grew cloudy
And Daddy said I should go inside
Somehow he knew things would get stormy
Boy was he right
But I could not keep from wondering
If there was something he had to hide
So after he left I had to find out
I was not afraid of getting lost
So I followed the crowds
To a hill where I knew men had been killed
And I heard a voice come from the cross
And it said, "Father, why are they screaming?
Why are the faces of some of them beaming?
Why are they casting their lots for My robe?
This crown of thorns hurts Me more than it shows
Father, please can't You do something?
I know that You must hear My cry
I thought I could handle the cross of this size
Father, remind Me why
Why does everyone want Me to die?
When will I understand why?"
"My precious Son, I hear them screaming
I'm watching the face of the enemy beaming
But soon I will clothe You in robes of My own
Jesus, this hurts Me much more than You know
But this dark hour I must do nothing
Though I've heard Your unbearable cry
The power in Your blood destroys all of the lies
Soon You'll see past their unmerciful eyes
Look there below, see the child
Trembling by her father's side
Now I can tell You why
She is why You must die"
The thought of God's sacrifice is unbearable. I don't know how He did it. How He stood back and watched His Son die. But I do know why He did it, although it is hard for me to comprehend. He was willing to let Satan win...or let him think he won...for 3 days - 3 very long days to a father, I'm sure - because He loves us with a love that I can't imagine. The love I have for my daughters is so strong that I can't put it into words...and He loves us more than that. He loves me, my husband and my girls more than that.
He loves you more than that, too.
