If you don't know about or haven't read The 5 Love Languages by Gary Chapman, you should run out to Barnes & Noble and get it right now...or you could just buy it here since it's practically below zero outside. Basically it teaches about 5 different ways people give and receive love. Most people have a primary love language. Mine is gifts. Here's what the book says about it:
"Don’t mistake this love language for materialism; the receiver of gifts thrives on the love, thoughtfulness, and effort behind the gift. If you speak this language, the perfect gift or gesture shows that you are known, you are cared for, and you are prized above whatever was sacrificed to bring the gift to you. A missed birthday, anniversary, or a hasty, thoughtless gift would be disastrous—so would the absence of everyday gestures."
(You can learn more about the 5 love languages here. There's even a personal assessment! Acts of service runs a very close second to gifts for me!)
Part of my love language being gifts is that I also LOVE to give them to others! So of course Christmas is one of my absolute favorite times of the year. I know the season is not about giving/receiving gifts, but there are a few people in my life who find it hard to receive gifts from others. Christmas is about the only time these people are more comfortable being on the receiving end. One of these people is Desha's dad, Dr. Kreth...aka Papa Kreth or Doc. He's the type of man that is SO hard to buy for because he has everything he wants or needs; however, he has a fantastic sense of humor and ADORES wearing funny t-shirts just to get a reaction out of people. Desha usually gets him one every Christmas, but this year, Chris and I had the pleasure of finding the perfect one!!
I also LOVE buying things for my mom. Especially things that will make her cry! This was my other favorite gift to give this year! Probably one of my favorites ever!
